These electronic instruments were originally part of an interactive sound performance. During the performance, the artists moved within a small space filled with participants, manipulating the portable electronic sound devices. The objects contain different sensors, which allowed them to respond to the artists’ and participants’ bodies as well as the conditions of the space. Through this process, the artists produced different modulations of sound that mapped the moment of the performance to generate a singular visual and sonic experience.
Within the gallery space, viewers were invited to become more involved with the instruments. By taking them off of the wall and connecting the 9V batteries, viewers were able to manipulate the sculptures to create their own sounds, either alone or in concert.
