Randonnée en cinq parties (2015)

collaboration with Anna Eyler

Randonnée en cinq parties (2015) is a site-specific, interactive sound performance maps specific moments in time and space. From July 6 - 12, the artists walked around De Castelnau for 4 hours each day while manipulating portable electronic sound devices. As they wandered through the space, the artists created a variety of digital and analog electronic sounds with their instruments. Equipped with different types of sensors, the instruments responded to both the performers’ and the pedestrians’ bodies as well as the environmental and architectural elements of the street. In this way, each new combination of individuals in the environment produced different modulations of sound that were unique to each performance. The artists also changed the sounds each day in order to create new harmonies of sound.
